Hollywood Costumes: Selections From The Dykeman Young Collection
December 16 Through January 15
The Dykeman Young Gallery is proud to present Hollywood Costumes Selections from the Dykeman Young Collection, a unique exhibition showcasing costumes from more than 50 films including Across The Universe, Catch Me If You Can, Chicago, O’ Brother Where Art Thou, Austin Powers, Walk The Line, and Kinsey. With this exhibition, the Dykeman Young Gallery gives the greater Jamestown area a special behind-the-scenes look at the art of costume design and its powerful role in filmmaking.
As visitors journey through the exhibition, they travel to various times and places experiencing the history, drama and comedy all over again, while simultaneously learning about what goes into crafting the perfect costume.
The Dykeman Young Collection is known in Hollywood for its impressive inventory of elegant evening wear, as well as its daytime wear, character wear and 20th century workwear. Academy Award-winning costume designer Ann Roth (The English Patient) described the Dykeman Young Collection as “high quality…genuinely authentic…with fabulous variety.” Oscar-winning Designer Albert Wolsky (Bugsy and All That Jazz) said that he “wouldn’t think of doing a period picture without visiting the Dykeman Young Collection. It’s a secure ‘go to’ resource – in mint condition.”
Hollywood Costumes Selections from the Dykeman Young Collection is a fundraiser for the newly merged Reg Lenna Center for the Arts and Evergreen Health Services (formally Aids Community Services). The show opens on December 16 and runs through January 15. Admission is $6.00 and the gallery is open from 1-7 p.m., Monday-Saturday. Advance sale tickets are available 2nd Floor Emporium at the Dykeman Young Gallery.
