CALL FOR ACTORS

The Philadelphia Story June 29 – July 8

By Philip Barry /Directed by Andrew Borba

A bright, bubbly, witty delight, The Philadelphia Story is one of the great American comedies. This 1939 classic brings us to the home of Tracy Lord, a Philadelphia socialite, as she prepares to marry for the second time. Things go awry with the unexpected return of her first husband and the arrival of a tabloid staff who’ve been given free rein in exchange for silence about some scandalous family secrets… Full of laughs, tears and a lot of love, The Philadelphia

Story is a vintage bottle of champagne just waiting to be uncorked!

The Chautauqua Theater Company is seeking a local actor who may be interested in doing a small part in Philadelphia Story.  We’re looking for someone male, preferably in their forties or older who isn’t equity and might get a kick out of joining us… It would be to play either the butler or the night watchman…

There’s no pay but you would receive a gate pass for the duration of rehearsals and the show and plenty of free booze and fun!

If interested, contact Andrew Borba at andrew@ctcompany.org for more details.

On The Horizon…

NATIONAL SOCIETY OF ARTS AND LETTERS
CHAUTAUQUA NEW YORK CHAPTER

Good Pennyworths
Sunday June 17 at 6:30pm
Fletcher Music Hall, Chautauqua Institution
The concert is titled “Love Is but a Jest.” There is no gate fee on that date, and there is no admission charge at the concert, although a freewill offering will be taken. The concert will feature music by Dowland, Purcell, Mozart, Rossini, and Simon and Garfunkel, as well as an original work by members of the ensemble.
In addition, Garald Farnham, director and lutist for Good Pennyworths will offer a master class in playing the lute at 3 p.m. at Hurlbut Church, on Pratt Ave., immediately adjacent to the Bratton Family Theater. Participation in the class is free of charge, although advance reservations are required. At the time of making reservations, participants may indicate whether they wish only to listen and observe, or if they wish to play a lute, under the guest artist’s supervision.

The opportunity to participate in the master class is provided as a community service by the National Society of Arts and Letters, in keeping with the organization’s mission of supporting and encouraging the arts. All are welcome to attend, although if the available space should fill up, students will be given first opportunity. Make reservations by sending an email to our chapter’s president, Juanita Wallace Jackson. Her email address is jwallacejackson@yahoo.com.

Enter Chautauqua through the Turner School Gate, from Route 394. Park free of charge in the lot next to Fletcher.
